Sanchez Brings It ‘Holmes’ Again

Posted by Eric Allen on November 14, 2010 – 6:50 pm

The franchise quarterback got trapped in a Browns sandwich, his right leg contorted in a manner that makes you fear the worst. But Mark Sanchez got up, hobbled to the sideline and then came back on and led his team to an overtime win on the road for the second consecutive week as the Jets moved to 7-2 with a 26-20 win over the Browns.

And when the game was on the line in hostile territory for a third straight time, Sanchez got the Jets to the promised land by going to Santonio Holmes.

It was a quick strike from the second-year passer to Holmes that ended it because the game-breaking receiver deftly managed to escape three would-be tacklers and cover most of the 37-yard scoring pass from Sanchez after the catch.

“Unbelievable job of making a guy miss and then outrunning everybody to the end zone,” Sanchez said. “That was pretty special.”

“When I saw the safety step up and he just went flatfooted, I just knew to take off on him,” said Holmes. “I didn’t want to hesitate any longer and I’m pretty sure if I would have, they would have made the stop and we would have been battling for a field goal. I definitely didn’t want that to happen this time.”

The play, which broke up a 20-20 tie, was snapped with just 16 seconds on the fifth-quarter clock as head coach Rex Ryan’s club was desperately trying to get points.

“You ought to see Santonio’s eyes when the fourth quarter comes around because that’s Santonio time,” said Ryan. “He’s a gamechanger, he’s a winner and he finds ways to get it done.”

Late in the third stanza, Sanchez suffered a calf injury when S Mike Adams got to him on a blitz and picked up one of the Browns’ two sacks. But it was no ordinary quarterback takedown because two or three Browns had converged on him and his right leg bent awkwardly backwards. But No. 6 limped to his bench area, got looked at by the medical staff and never missed a play.

“They wanted to check it out and make sure it wasn’t my knee and let me move around a little bit, just get it stretched,” said Sanchez, who finished 27-of-44 for 299 with two TDs through the air and one interception. “I think the guys were glad I was back, so that was good.”

The offense actually got off to a slow start today, managing three points on two drives that started inside plus-territory — the Cleveland 42 after a failed Browns onside kick and the 31 after a Peyton Hillis fumble. But Sanchez turned in a solid 30 minutes, guiding the Jets to a 17-13 lead as he completed nine of 13 for 83 yards with one TD and also had a 1-yard keeper (his second in as many weeks) just 23 seconds before the break.

Sanchez proved to be elusive in the pocket and kept many plays alive with nifty footwork. His 25-yard scoring pass to a wide-open Jerricho Cotchery in the second quarter came after he rolled out and forced some defenders to move forward or pause in anticipation of a run. And in overtime, he made a huge field-position-changing play by getting out of the grasp of NT Shaun Rogers before sending a dump pass to LaDainian Tomlinson as the Jets advanced from their 13 to the 34.

“The kid’s tougher than nails,” Ryan said. “He got out of some sacks. He got out of one from Shaun Rogers — that might be the biggest man I’ve ever seen in my life, but he got out of his grasp a couple of times. He’s just tough and gave our guys chances and when it was all said and done, he found a way again.”

“He’s scrambling around back there, he’s making plays with his feet,” said C Nick Mangold. “He’s keeping his head in the game and he’s doing well.”

Holmes was quiet in the first half with one catch, but he had two grabs on an impressive 10:04 Jets drive that started the third quarter. But Nick Folk struck the upright on a 24-yarder and it remained a 17-13 contest.

“If I don’t touch the ball throughout the whole first, second, third quarter, I just know that my quarterback is going to need me at some point during the game. And when he looks at me, I just have to be ready,” Holmes said. “And every time in the fourth quarter or overtime or whenever the game counts, I’m going to be that guy that’s always ready.”

A Sanchez-to-Holmes 6-yarder got the Jets into Browns territory late in the extra session, but Sanchez was intercepted three plays later by rookie Joe Haden with just 1:35 on the fifth-quarter clock. The defense held and that set up the late heroics.

The Jets are 5-0 on the road and Sanchez and Holmes have proved to be a lethal combination in the last three away from home. There was a big pass interference penalty in Denver on fourth down that preceded the Week 6 winning touchdown, then the 52-yarder up the gut last week against Detroit that set up Folk’s game-winner.

And this time they handled it themselves. It’s some combo and they’ll get better considering Holmes has played only five games for New York’s AFC representative. Both are students of the game and it was Holmes who actually suggested the slant to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. The Browns had played off of the speedy target all day and the former Ohio State star thought the Jets could take advantage.

“I told him, ‘Coach, I need a slant route,’ ” said Holmes, who had five receptions for 76 yards. “ ‘I need a slant at some point in this game because he’s giving me too much leverage.’ We never ran a slant all game and we called it at the perfect time.”

Anybody still think Holmes won’t be back next season? Try 5-year deal for a ton of bucks.

Braylon had a pretty decent game as well, in case nobody noticed. Nothing too showy, but he just keeps getting it done.

Edwards and J-Co both had good games, OldRogue, and I think the Jets will spare no expense to get all three guys back next year. BE and SH added to J-Co have made years of suffering with a declining Coles, waiting for Clowney to pay off or for Smith to step up at WR, and rather unrealistically expecting Woodhead to turn into Wes Welker overnight seem like a distant memory (or nightmare). Looks like we got the WR problem solved for a good long while once and for all. Even Rex seems to be starting to understand what a good WR corps gives you. Of course, if he DIDN’T realize that after the impact Holmes has had three games in a row…

I wasn’t able to watch the game but I heard it on radio through my PC. Marty Lyons was raving about what a great game Brick had.
I had given up hope & was trying to convince myself that a tie isn’t really that bad, definitely better than a loss. Then Mr Sanchez came through when it counted. The “strategic” int was one of the crucial factors in winning us the game.
They need to really focus on eliminating penalties, BS had a 25 yd gain brought back on a holding call; that’s unacceptable. The main thing is we won. Go Jets!

Re this talk of Pete Carroll’s not drafting McKnight being decisive: Carroll made a lot of noise about picking up Leon, who’s still stuck at 17 for 59 on the year with SEA and not even playing in the backfield. Not only is Leon not starting, not only did they get Lynch, but Jones has carried almost as many times as him. McKnight is clearly for the most part next year’s project, as we seem determined to get all we can out of LT this year and next. A note to the die-hard loyalists: Chris Baker (remember him, who we just HAD to keep?) has caught six balls for SEA, and TJ had one of those classic TJ outings today in a big game against DEN — 4 for 3 with a long of 2. And KC’s not looking for real now that they’re playing better teams.

OK know everybody was on Drew’s case after last week. Now make sure you give him some love because he saved the game for the Jets with that strip. Not having Cole hurt because McKnight missed a tackle that would’ve made the Browns start from their own 20 instead of the 40 on that last drive to tie the game.
In my eyes this was the best game Sanchez has played as a pro. Not only did he come back and play hurt he lead them to their 3rd come from behind win on the road.
Nice to see Greene get a bigger role and LT still had some major impact with 100 plus yds combined.
Hope J-Co is not out too long. Wouldn’t be surprised if they sign LC today or tomorrow if J-Co is going to miss much time. Lets hope for the best.
    GO JETS!!!!!

Great football game to watch but yet again a win is going to gloss over all the mistakes. Sanchez really is a dichotomy. One minute he is making bonehead throws and missing wide open receivers the next he is threading some good throws. He is making strides and killing is at the same time. I have left Shotty alone all year and do like him however we were pounding the ball all day and made every third and short when we ran the ball. Why keep jamming Sanchez down our throats on a few third and shorts especially on the last drive in the 4th Qtr. He is throwing too much. We left way to many points on the field and this nonsense has to stop. Brad Smith made some big plays to keep drives alive and helping Sanchez.

Still not sure why Pool didn’t get to cover Watson more then Smith did? And on 4th and 1 in OT i felt there was a better chance of getting a 1st down than going for a 48 yd FG into the wind. Not only was Folk missing into that wind in warm ups so was Dawson.
Sure they have a short list of kickers if Folk doesn’t bounce back this week.
Glad Hillis woke up the D. Hillis was stopped in the 2nd half. Still not happy about giving up that last score.
Bottom line at 7-2 and still not playing their best football i will take it.

Whats really amazing is that the Browns had 196 yds 84 of them rushing in the 1st half. In the second half they ran 10 plays for only 14 yds. So yes the D didn’t tighten up. But they let them go on a 10 play drive for 59 yds on that last drive which was more than they had all the 2nd half. The Jets best D was that the offense controlled the ball for all of the 2nd half.
    Randy,
The Jets ran 91 plays yesterday. Is that the most in a game they have ever had?

  20. By Randy Lange on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Ira, the Jets ran 97 plays in their 1988 tie with the Chiefs, 92 plays in their ’81 draw with the Dolphins and 91 on Christmas Eve 2000 at Baltimore. But this is the most plays from scrimmage in a Jets victory in franchise history.

Randy … what are we allowing on kickoff and punt returns … it seems like a lot

Does anyone else think that the decision to kick the FG for 47 yds in OT was a mistake … we had 4th and less than a yd … you had to know he was going to miss it … he had a terrible day

Thunder Lips, the Jets are allowing 22.0 yards per kickoff return, not so bad, and 11.6 yards per punt return, not so good.

GaryC, you mean Holmes taking so long to sign? I thought he signed a 1-year deal when we got him. Even if not, it’s not in his interest to re-up in the middle of the year after missing the first 4 games and it’s not in ours, either, let’s talk to him in ’11. I don’t care how well he or anyone else plays during the year, I don’t wanna see Mr. T run over to him the second the last game is over and tell him he’s the best WR in the league and we’re tearing up his contract and signing him for whatever he wants. That got us in pretty big trouble last year and you know who I’m talking about. As for how we’re playing, we need to start playing A LOT better if we’re gonna beat the likes of NE OR PIT. P.S. Harris “is taking so long” to sign, too.

Did anyone notice how the defence made a 1st year rookie QB look like Payton Manning 2 weeks in a row these guys best tighten up Pats are playing lights out.. Tom 64 I’m not upset about losing L-W or T-J but yet again you about McKnight who’s done nothing at all Leon has 2 returns for Tds in 1 game and K-C leads the NFL in rushing and D-W is starting every game 4 the Pats tighten up your facts bud or else it just sounds like ramblings

HE DID CONTRIBUTE TO THIS JETS VICTORY WITH ONE OF HIS PATENTED “SURPRISE” ONSIDE KICKS THAT NEVER SEEM TO WORK….NO MATTER WHERE HE’S COACHING. Mr GO JETS,
There is nothing wrong with the Jets D. Teams have caught up with their blitz schemes and they don’t have a pure pass rusher that teams need to gameplan against. In their last 4 out of 5 games they have given up 20 pts in each of those games. All in wins. They hold the Pack to 9 and lose. Go figure.
    Tom,
Holmes will get a contract. The labor uncertainty will hold things up for everybody. They will not let Holmes go anywhere.

Anthony, I don’t comment on injuries but Rex Ryan does and his news conference will be streamed live today on newyorkjets.com beginning around 4:15 p.m. (but be ready earlier). Rob Turner seemed to hold up fine from what I saw but I haven’t watched my video of the game yet. Vlad Ducasse has been deactivated for seven of the Jets’ nine games, including the last five. With Turner and Wayne Hunter backing up all OL positions, Ducasse hasn’t been in uniform a lot.

the defense is not playing to potential because it might just be overrated,no pass rush, lack of a front seven dominator,no safety play.rex tries to hide the defiencies by blitzing which puts too much pressure on corners.Revis is who we think he is, not as good as last year.jason taylor, where are you.Gholston, enough said.

By the way as I mentioned repeatedly since training camp Folk was going to be a disaster for this team and it is now starting to show. Its only going to get worse as conditions get tougher they better start looking for another kicker. To save a few bucks on Feeley may very well be this teams demise come the end of the year.

Thanks Randy – I understand about the injury reporting, but had no idea what was up with Vlad. Just annoying on TV that the announcers can’t offer anything of value in a story like this. Sort of calls the draft into question now though, huh (him and Joe M.)? Do they think Vlad has a future, or is he just a bust?

Just imagine how things would be if only this team can win at home like it does so often on the road. Can anyone logically explain this? Then again, look at the combined road win/loss records for The Jets, NE, and Miami, a stunning 12-3. The next 2 games, at home, against beatable teams will probably go a long way in determining the Jets fate for this season. Another thing I have mentioned often, maybe it is time to stop deferring after a coin toss win and take the ball and try to start fast. Once again yesterday it backfired. I hate to talk draft in November, but I don’t expect to much changing between now and then, it has to be, DE, Safety, 1 and 2, in either order.

  36. By Anthony on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

GaryC no offense but it is one of the top D’s in the league. What more do you want? Shutouts every week? It looks like the Jets and Pats are the 2 best teams in the NFL right now – the Pats lost twice – to the Jets, and to the team the Jets just beat. We have a very good team. The Jets lost twice, to a good Ravens team, and a very good Green Bay team – and both of those losses were on the O side (and at home, where I think the Jets are more uncomfortable – they need to get used to winning at home). I am more worried about the schedule. If we end up splitting with the Pats, I don’t think we will win the division. That game 3 weeks from now is huge. The Pats ride to the end seems a little bit easier (to me anyway).

  37. By scjoe on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

This game should have never come down to winning in OT. Like many Jet teams through the years, this Jet team just can not take advantage of opportunities given to them, or even the opportunities they create them self. A ten minute opening drive of the second half ending on the Browns 6 yd line, 0 points! A fumble recovery on the Browns 30, no points, no yards. A fumble recovery in OT on their own 39, No points. Factor in a very inept place kicker and that is why this game played out like it did.

  38. By GaryC on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Anthony, you are right about the patriot game could mean everything but you have to worry a little bit about welker and who the jets will cover him with, seeing coleman has had some very hot and cold games and the confidence that jets might have in Wilson.also Hernandez in first game was killing us.what jet linebacker or safety is going to cover him.

  39. By Anthony on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

GaryC the good thing for us (Jet fans) is that we won the first game, they scored 14 point (the Pats, right) and they had Moss – AND Revis was hurt! The Pats can score, but I think the Jets match up okay right now. Welker’s production is down since Moss is gone – and I am not sure he is what he was since the injury anyway. The Pats can not run on the Jets. They have good tight ends. I think the game is a toss up – the Jets can’t score 20 that day though – we’ll need a little more probably. Hanging on to the ball like that 10 minute drive this week would be good also :)

  40. By IRA on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Don’t worry about the Pats. Houston is first and it won’t be easy they are desperate to save their season. Key is 30 pts. They have lost every game they have scored 29 or less and won every game they have scored 30 or more.
One thing the Jets MUST fix is their redzone offense. Last year they scored 50.94% of the time. This year they are ranked 30th overall with a 39.25 % and have scored only 22.22% of the time the past three games. Problem they get away from the run too much in the redzone and some costly penalties have hurt them.

  41. By Jets Fan Since '64 Tom on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Facts, MJV? Leon has two TDs on kicks, nothing else, and SEA went out and got another starting back in Lynch so they wouldn’t have to play him at RB. TJ’s having about the same year for KC that he had for us last year, maybe a bit less and still can’t catch passes, KC leads in running because Charles is a monster, and the team itself is going downhill vs. better competition. Woodhead is starting on a team with no RBs, not the situation on the Jets. So I’ll take who we got, especially Holmes and Cromartie, over who we lost, with a ? mark on Folk. Agree with you on the rest, though. Ira, I know the Jets aren’t letting Holmes go anywhere, it’s GaryC who sounds worried but I agree with him about the D.

  42. By Jets Fan Since '64 Tom on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Another thing, MJV, no way we’ll know this year what McKnight can do because we’re grinding it hard as possible with LT and SG, like I said in my other post above. That’s the main reason he’s on the bench, so let’s not start talking bust about guys who’ve played three downs, which is also my advice to Anthony on Ducasse. Look, guys, I grew up all over the five boroughs so I know about that NYC impatience. But just a few weeks ago somebody on this site said in all seriousness that “Holmes is the problem” because he dropped a few passes and supposedly wasn’t in playing shape. I gotta tell ya, I’m sure glad it isn’t as easy to get a job in the Jets’ front office as it was for Costanza to work for the Yanks on “Seinfeld”!

  43. By Anthony on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Woodhead is a good point – I mean come on, out of the three, what two do you take: LT, Shonn Greene, Woodhead. The first two, 100% of the time. Not to take anything away from Woodhead, and I wish we still had him, but obviously you can chalk up the running back position as advantage Jets against the Pats. If they didn’t feel the need to draft Joe M. Woodhead is still a Jet. That pick is looking like a bust – especially if LT or Greene suffers an injury. And as much as I love Greene – he does seem a little injury prone. We were basically done last year when he got hurt vs. the Colts – and I think that fact alone was what made TJ expendable – Tannenbaum and Rex knew they were not getting past the Championship game in 2011 with TJ.

This team really scares me….I know they are 7-2 but not a good 7-2…

We really need a new OC…i blame him more than Folk or anyone else…first drive, at the Browns 5 or 6 (don’t exactly remember), 2nd down and 2 to go. We had been gashing up the defense for big runs all drive. Then he calls two straight throws, both fall incomplete..and folk kicks a field goal….and no TD…..why didn’t we run the ball there??? all drive we were picking up 8/9 yards per attempt…man, this guy is really tries to oversmart everybody including our own players….

I am fed up with the O play calling…

  45. By Jets Fan Since '64 Tom on Nov 15, 2010 | Reply

Very ironic, Ira, that just as I’m more optimistic about Schotty teaching Rex about throwing the ball, you chime in with my old point (and other posters’ point) about Schotty having no faith in the run in the red zone. Maybe it’s good that Folk missed those FGs yesterday so that this team remembers, as Edwards said during the week, that we need TDs, not FGs. (I still say Edwards is a potential leader, damn the off-the-field nonsense.) When we got the ball back at the end yesterday, I was thinking, “We need a TD to win this game, we’re not doin’ it today with an FG.” I was wondering if the field was wet but Rex graciously let Folk off the hook regarding the winds in that stadium.

I cannot believe the confidence everyone has with this team. They are extremly lucky to not have lost against Buffalo, Denver and Cleavland. The part that worries me is that the defense looks lost out there against the pass. Smith and Coleman are killing us. The linebackers can’t cover a tight end, we can’t get to the quarterback. If they don’t start playing beginning to end they will not beat the Green Bay’s of the league. Hopefully they will go Home and start playing better, but I don’t see how anyone can be excited by the way they are playing.

I’m happy we are 7-2. Not happy with all the mistakes this team is still making. How in the world can we get flaged again for 12 men on the field. The catch by J-CO was INSANE made up for all the drops he had. If we don’t figure out how to cover the middle of the field on defense it can be a long 2nd half. We have some tough teams coming up.

Gary and Anthony agreed about our Defence Rex has been masking deficiencies with blitzes he’s been using everyone but Mike -T out there to stay fresh and still giving up more pass yardage then all last season, simply put we don’t have the guns at safety DE add in the lack of sacks this year N-T may be a thought going forward to stop teams like Pats Steelers Titans and Colts..Next game is the true test a beaten battered very good Houston team which I might add a top rated QB D-E RB and reciever note to whom it may concern they aren’t the Broncos Browns Miami or Bills folks GO JETS

Larry and Pranit, I agree we’re a pretty mediocre 7-2. After we play NE and PIT, we’ll know if we’re in the playoffs and how far we’ll go in them. That’s terrible news about J-Co and I can see us picking up Coles, Clowney, or someone else for a few weeks. It’s also hard not to notice that J-Co, who I don’t think ever had so much as a hangnail before, has now been hurt in mid-season two years in a row. With Edwards and Holmes starting for a few games, the onus will be on J-Co to come back healthy and stay seriously in the mix on this team. We all love good guys and fan favorites but the Jets didn’t get BE and SH because they thought they had it all at WR.

GaryC, Anthony,,Bottom line is the Jets have a “good” defense, not a “great” one. From what I see, NO team out there has a “great” defense, so we are good there. The problems I see is an inconsistent offense. Blame it on the OC, on the QB, or anywhere in between, don’t matter, it needs to be fixed. Yesterday, all through the broadcast they talked about the Browns “taking Keller away”, that is fine and good, but shouldn’t that open things up for BE, SH, and J co? At least one of them had to command single coverage throughout the game as I see it. The great teams adjust on the fly, the good teams adjust in the 2nd half, right now, we are a good team. Is that good enough? Stay tuned.

I agree with Ira, the Jets get to pass happy when they are in the red zone, especially when inside the five yd line. It’s probably the hardest place to complete a pass. Lots of bodies in a limited space… With a great O line and LT, SG and Trich, why not run the ball? Also, penalties are still a big problem.

“all through the broadcast they talked about the Browns “taking Keller away”, that is fine and good, but shouldn’t that open things up for BE, SH, and J co?” that is a good point and also part of the problem of watching the games on TV and not seeing the wider angle of game film. They can take Keller away and still cover, if the Jets are not lined up with 3 or 4 receivers. I did not see many times where Cleveland looked to be playing single/man on the wideouts, but then again it is hard to tell sometimes on the TV view of the field. But in pro football it really always is match ups. The TD to Cotchery, he was wide open, Sanchez found him. You also saw the play where Sanchez got the ball tipped as he threw. It is a game of inches!

Mark, I have to hand it to you. Most QBs would crumble having to focus and find a way as a QB to win games at the very end. Of course, it takes the whole Offense, OL, backs, WRs to get those last minute wins, but the QB has to also be extremely focused and resilient. Like you said, one mistake (from anyone on the field) could have cost you the game.

This is my challenge: lead your team and lead yourself unto shorter goals. Believe and focus on getting one or two touchdowns every quarter. Shorten your goals. Put a little pressure on yourself to think that if you don’t score in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd, you might lose a game, and if it’s a playoff game, you’re out, season’s over. Make shorter goals for yourself and find a way to make them happ

it is funny to me when I hear teams say they took away a player in a game. I never saw Jerry Rice get taken out of a game,or Michael Irvin. It might just take a little ingenuity on coordinators part.it is called changing in midstream.that being said this week sanchez needs to complete at least 58 percent against texans who have one of the worst pass defenses in football.we will also see if revis can hold Andre Johnson like he did last year.can we dress jarron gilbert to see if he can give us a pass rush.gastineau at his age can probably get us a sack, ditto Mo Lewis.

Anthony, if you double a TE, and are playing in a base D, that leaves at least one WR in man to man coverage, now, if you bring in a third or fourth WR the defense counters with 4 or 5 DBs, everything is relative, point being, I would take BE or SH one on one with most DBs around the league most times. Now, it falls on the QB to make the read and more importantly make the throw. You say Cleveland didn’t show to much man to man on the WRs, then who did they double with? If they brought in 2 extra DBs, it sure didn’t show up in the run game.

GaryC, you are correct, those offensive match ups, and mismatches, have to be taken advantage of, and that falls on the coaching staff, the OC to be exact. Football is not rocket science, it is all about match ups and creating mis matches. The Browns did it well with Watson, no surprise there of course, just look at how our safeties have been covering TEs and slot receivers all season. I think Shotty is “OK” as an OC, maybe middle of the pack, not great at creating mis matches. I think that will need to change to get to the next level.

What Buffalo game was Larry watching???

scjoe from what I could see on the TV angle, it looked like most of the time if there were 2 wideouts, the Browns had corner and safety help for each. I don’t know – were they using a nickel and a LB on Keller? I would have to look again. But if they were, that is 6 guys – and you would think we would run all over them. Which we sort of did – but just didn’t really have anything more than 10 yards from LT or Greene. I think bottom line of this game was that the Jets beat them on the field pretty bad – especially in the second half. The red zone lack of scoring was the only reason the Browns were in it. And yes – Jets demolished the Bills – not sure what that guy is talking about!

EVERYBODIES CRYING ABOUT WHAT JETS COULD DO BETTER. 7 AND 2 IS GREAT, AND ALTHOUGH WE CAN BE BETTER, WE ARE WINNING GAMES WE WOULD NEVER WIN. I’VE BEEN A JETS FAN ALL MY LIFE AND THIS SEASON SEEMS SPECIAL!

“7 AND 2 IS GREAT” – you bet it is. I couldn’t agree more!

Okay Justin, then what if I name antonio gates or heath miller, will that suffice, they are never taken out of a game. Keller has just as much talent as those two.You underestimate kellers ability.

Obviously I meant Minn. But keep avoiding the fact that they don’t look good. I just don’t want them to ignore what needs to be done because we are winning. Justt like when Herm was here we made the playoffs at 9-7 made no changes like we should of and than went 6-10 the following year. Winning blinds people and they can’t see that we need better play and better coaching if they are serious about going deep in the Playoffs.

I love the Jets and I think they are doing a good job this season. They play like a real team, something others lack. I don’t see why we wouldn’t have confidence in them, we are gang green!

    GO JETS!

gary …heaths mopre of a blocking tight end…sometimes hell get maybe one catch….gates has been a non factor in alot of games….and i still wouldnt even compare him to keller…dont get me wrong i like keller but gates is in a league of his own…but anyways if u watch the game again keller was WIDE open a couple times…sanchez tried to hit him but made bad throws…but who cares were 7-2…im sure keller will get one sunday against this texans defense…well win by atleast two tds maybe even more…and then crush the bengals on turkey day!!!!!!!!!!

One things for sure, these are not the same old Jets. I cannot believe we keep winning these close games. The main point I notice from this game is that we must make Kellen the back-up. Sanchez is still way off with a lot of his throws. I really think someone with a decent defense will notice and run us into the ground. (as green bay did) The running lanes are closing and it’s upsetting. I just don’t know how everyone gives #6 the credit when a guy like Holmes takes a slant 40ish yards two weeks in a row. Find a pulling tackle. Find someone to hit someone. Use the FB we drafted as a TE or on a wishbone formation or something. Just fix the running game and find a way to have Sanchez stop throwing high balls off his back foot. Go Jets
