Pace, Keller, Revis Chat It Up with Fans Today

Posted by jetsstaff on November 4, 2011 – 4:46 pm

We want to thank everyone in Jets Nation who participated in two different conversations with three big-name Jets this afternoon, two days before the Jets take the Ralph Wilson Stadium field to do battle with their AFC East-rival Bills.

LB Calvin Pace took part in our live chat with the fans immediately following Friday’s practice at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. The Q&A was broadcast simultaneously on newyorkjets.com and Facebook and has been archived for you to click here and view for yourself.

And here’s a shoutout to the 5,500 who were on the line for our exclusive call to MetLife Stadium season   ticket holders featuring TE Dustin Keller and CB Darrelle Revis. The fellas were happy to participate and it was a good sendoff heading into Sunday’s pivotal matchup. If you want to take a listen, here’s what they had to say during their half-hour call.

The weather is suppose to be perfect Sunday..Should be a fun game to watch..I hope we can run the ball and control the clock…biggest key to a vctory

The Jets have to focus on stopping Jackson bottom line. Revis has to take Steve Johnson out of the game. We have to make it so Fitzpatrick will have to beat us with the Nelson’s & Chandlers of the world. If we can do that we will at least be in it until the end. On O we have to be able to run the ball we have had 1 good game running the ball this year. Other teams are giving help over the top to stop Holmes & doing everything they can to take Keller out of the game. Plax has to show up & beat single coverage all day. If Plax is beating his man & Greene is running the ball well. They will have to respect the run & that will open up things for Holmes & Keller. Also Schotty has to call a few early slants & posts to Holmes & Plax to get some

early completions & to get Mark in a rythm. Score quick & take the crowd out of the game from the start.

We def need to go back to those Holmes slants MS and Tone do so well. That’s Tone’s bread and butter

Nice to hear you say we need “early completions & to get Mark in a rhythm”, Spicer. The main reason I despised the Wildcat is because it stopped MS from doing just that, getting into a rhythm, feeling the game, and getting 1st-half drives going. And 1st-half drives have certainly been one of our biggest problems last yr and this, so when Rex talks about what a great Wildcat QB Smith is — or make that was, he’s not getting anywhere with that jive on BUF — he sounds like some old-timer waxing nostalgically about the days when the game was played without facemasks. If Plax can’t shake this back problem, Kerley will obviously become one of the key men in this game. And I agree with folks who say we should start using McKnight more at RB.

I also agree with folks who say we should use McKnight more in the offense. If we used a 3 RB committee, I think that opens up a lot of options in the running game (or even 4 if they can start including Conner). In order to win this game, we have to set up the run so Sanchez can get to work. I’ve always been a fan of a balanced attack and I’m glad we’re distancing ourselves from a base 3 wide set. That did squat for our running game and it showed. Maybe we’ll do some 3 tights with Nelson on the roster. I’d like to see some of that.
