JOE, yeah, and the sad thing is Woody wanted to do it again this year. Fortunately, Rex didn’t and was able to talk Woody out of it. GREG BAUMONT, please, you cant compare Tebow to Kaepernick. First of all, Kaeperneic was a prolific passer at Nevada who threw for 4 times the yardage Tebow threw for. Secondly, Tebow is not as fast or elusive as Kaepernick.Tebow basically relies on power which can work on occassion but will eventually get him injured. Hey, he only ran the ball a couple of times against Seattle yet he got two broken ribs. I can understand you wanting to see anybody but Sanchez out there but with the overall lack of talent on the Jets Tebow would not have the success he had in Denver last year.

JOE, Tannenbaum strikes me like a guy trying to prove himself inspite of the fact he is simply not qualified for the role he has been entrusted.If you remember how much camera time he got on “Hard Knocks’ it was crazy.The Rosco diner fiasco, the treadmill with Woody, the chats with Rex, cutting players,it was way too much Tannenbaum! The Ducasse thing was all about him trying to prove to everyone how smart he was.Well, hows that looking now? JEREMY, you are correct, its too early to declare Coples a bust.Physically, he has all the tools to succeed.Time will tell he is willing to accept the challange of being great.(or even better than avg.) like you I believe he deserves an opportunity to prove himself. So far, not so good.

GaryC: Good catch on the Jim Marshall blunder. I remember seeing that on “This Week in the NFL” with Pat Summerall & Tom Brookshire. Back then it was the only way to see highlights of other teams outside of your local area. The thing about Marshall is that despite that one play, he is revered as one of the greatest defensive lineman to play this game. Unfortunately, Sanchez will not be remembered the same way. His butt-fumble may be the lasting impression for his NFL career.

Any team can beat another on any day. The Jets beat St. Louis. However, this is only one game with six loses to match it. That translates to the Jets can beat St. Louis 1 out of 6 times, which means nothing. If I and my friends put a team together and played the Jets 16 times, we might win 1. This means nothing, only that even a bunch of non-professionals could still win one game against the pathetic Jets. Please sit MS down and at least give TT a chance. Hey, San Francisco did this with Kuepernick, even with a really good QB in place already.
I guess the Jets are just too stupid to realize anything!!

Every time I see the headline “REX, STILL HARD TO IMAGINE, BUT IT HAPPENED”. Rex, why is it hard to imagine. You constantly say MS is your QB, you allow Sparano to make offensive calls (by the way, they are offensive to us JET FANS). I can not speak for others in here, but I am tired of hearing excuse after excuse, I am tired of hearing MS is the QB, If he played on a team I coach, which is a “POP WARNER TEAM” here in Florida he would have been benched long ago. One of the best and loyal fans you had in the stadium was the “FIREMAN” and he is giving up all hope. We are a dis-gruntled bunch of JET FANS who deserve better then this. So stop making excuses for MS and open your eyes….

I agree with you scjoe, to get rid of Rex would make things even worse. The odds of you getting anyone out there that would be a better option are slim. Belichick’s initial coaching experience was a disaster – Rex has made his share of mistakes however defensively he has not done that bad considering their lack of personnel – when you look around, there are a lot of average to better than average players on “D”. Since Rex has been here, he has never had that dynamic pass rusher that all the other quality teams seem to have. Supposedly there are several college players who would fit nicely in the 3-4 as OLB’s that can get to the QB – hopefully we can land one. Give McElroy a chance before he goes somewhere and turns into another Woodhead

KARAN, Greg Jennings is getting a little long in the tooth to invest serious money in. He is better suited to a contending team as a 3rd or 4th option. If we were ever gonna bring Braylon back it would have been this year. I know you like Bowe & he is a very good player who would fit in nicely here. The problem will be money. Right now we barley have the money to sighn our draft picks & a couple of our own free agents we need to bring back like B.Moore & L.Landry. So unless we
can find anybody stupid enough to take our over paid guys like S.Greene,Keller M.Sanchez,D.Ferguson or perhaps Revis(not over paid, but what can we get for less?) I’m afraid next year will be a lot like this year.

I don’t see one out there. I am still a firm believer that the “talent” (or lack there of) on this team is the main problem, not who is coaching them. I also agree 100% that “if” they can get a kings ransom for Revis, you do it. If push comes to shove give me the elite QB over the elite CB any day of the year.

Bennett: agree with most of your posts. I will NOT excuse MS for anything. He has proven that he has little clue on how to play in the NFL as a QB. His football mentality should have been checked better. You give a 22 year old millions, let him know he is the starter no matter what, have no viable option to replace so he is not worried, and have Kate Upton to make him feel better after a poor performance on the field. Not sure what they can do with Sanchez. They are stuck with him for another year unless they can trade him for a low round pick and pay most of his contract.
The QB is a big part of the problem.
Rex does not hold his players accountible and is a poor talent evaluator.

WALT, Sorry dude but your way off base concerning the talent on this team.E. Smith is a decent spec.Teamer but poor in pass coverage. D.Keller is an undersized T.E & poor blocker.Avg at best. Mangold is the only true pro-bowler on the O.L. Brick is avg. runblocker, has trouble in pass prot. vs. good pass rushers.B.Moore just got tossed like a rag-doll into Sanchez on the infamous “Butt-Play”!Moore had a couple of good years but the past two have been poor.Q.Coples has 2 sacks in 11 games?C.Jones for N.E has 7 sacks in only 8 games?3 of our 4 L.B’s are old & too slow& the 4th is having an off year.Only rookie D.Davis shows promose.At S Bell & Landry can hit,but their coverage skills are so-so at best.Did you see Landry get beat by Edelman?

Ryan isn’t being delusional about MS being the best option to win, he is being dishonest about it. This organization from the top on down is afraid to admit what a huge mistake they made giving MS the contract they did prior to the season. They are afraid to eat crow, so you will not see any other QB this season unless MS get hurt, and I don’t wish that on anyone. This is what I see as the unwillingness to even bench Sanchez, which most HC’s would have done by now. And as I stated in another post, the Jets should let TT go to a team that will let him play and not be used as a pawn. He has shown a lot of class given the situation he is in. Most players would be lashing out to the media if they were receiving the negativity he recieves.

Fact is, there is not much out there. In regards to trading Revis, for anyone to say he is untouchable is insane. There is no reason in the world for the Jets not to listen to offers – some of you older guys can recall when the Packers traded two 1st’s, two 2nd’s and a 3rd round pick to the Chargers for a 34 year old John Hadl. You never know what is out there until you try – there are some GM’s out there willing to do some incredibly desperate (and dumb) things.

Bennett, it’s not always about numbers. I don’t have the best way to defend whats going on with the QB at the current time and even last season, because he is playing bad. I will however, defend what he did in his first two seasons. He stepped his game up big times on those road playoff wins. 4-2 record for a young QB in his first two seasons is pretty darn good. He beat the Colts, Chargers, Bengals and most importantly the Patriots on the road. That’s a big deal if you ask me. Yes, he had a great defense and O-line play was great, but like I’ve said before, Matt Ryan has been in a similar circumstance the past 4 to 5 years. Sanchez only had it for two. And what is Matt Ryan’s playoff record again?? Hope you get my point.

Really great posts T64, Byrdman, Bennett & others. I wonder if Woody watched any football this weekend. Watching other teams play makes all of the Jets shortcomings so obvious. QBs that don’t stare down their Rcvs; RBs with speed, instinct and cut-back skills; WRs who look like they practiced with the QB; Defs that play with passion and go to the ball; Head Coaches that prepare their team for the game and make adjustments as they go. But no, we are Jets fans and we have to watch in amazement as other teams like the Giants show how to respond to a big game challenge. As for Fireman Ed & his feelings getting hurt. Really?
