JETBLUE, Sadley next to the Kotite era this is about as bummed as it gets.Eric Mangenious got a lot of flack when he was here because he was not a media friendly guy.But when he was here we certianly drafted better and he ran a lot more professional operation. We were not the brunt end of every other teams ridicule like we are today. I remember how much more organized we were down to details like having NFL referees at training camp and holding players and coaches accountable for their actions. We had no Bart Scott or Santonio Holmes incidents which with todays media makes us look like idiots.

RonAlex: Keep it comin’. I’m with you on the circus being in town. I live in MD surrounded by annoying Ravens fans & they are feasting on their old buddy Rex and our hard-to-watch Jets. On top of that I work with a transplanted Bostonian who never fails to remind me of who we’re looking up at when we view the AFC East standings. At least in 2009 & 2010 I had the last laugh even though I didn’t see a future with this QB we have. Now I just have to laugh with ‘em because I have no ammo. The whole world is pointing at us and laughing, I’m not one who can put up with that too long before I want to do something about it. But none of us have control over what’s happening to our team so I guess we have to put up with it ……for now. :>)

S.C.Joe, I’m Not sure what access you have in S.C to SNY (I believe you can get it if you have “Direct T.V. but Rex is pretty much getting killed on SNY. Actually your comment on the comedy of errors is on the money! ESPN just voted the “Butt Play” as #1 on the “not plays of the month!” And as you said, not to be redundant but a lot of this falls on Rex for drawing so much attention on the Jets.Again, when you paint a bulls-eye on your forehead people are gonna take their shots.
My friends I mentioned earlier (Giants fans) are killing me with the circuse Woody,Tanney & Rex have created. I am fully expecting a red jacket,blk top hat and a whip from my buddies for X-mas as they see me as the “ringmaster in this circus. Sad, very sad!

Cont- I agree the player talent is not championship calaber. That brings us to the most crucial component that needs fixing. I think at least 95% of the people who post here would agree Tannenbaum is in way over his head as a G.M. So, step 1, bring in a competent G.M. Allow the G.M to assemble a quality staff to go out and bring in the players needed to accomplish what all of us who post here want.
To win! Now, if that G.m feels Rex is the guy to get the job done,,,, well, I could live with that. If we go by what Joe says,” all coaches possess basically the same knowledge” (personally I’m not so sure about that one?) But for the sake of argument lets assume he is correct so we give Rex a shot? Do you really believe he could get it done?

S.C.Joe, Relax, I’m on your side buddy.I agree with pretty much everything you said. I only specifically mentioned Rex because as the headcoach, he is the most visable part of the problem. To me, Rex has become a symbol of all that is wrong with this organization.With his ridiculous proclamations of greatness for mediocre players, the divisions that appear to be growing wider on the team, to the assine refusal to play the younger players so they can develope and be properly evaluated. Rex is being portrayed in the media as a clown.Sadly, there is merritt to these portrayals.When you appear on T.V after a embarrassing defeat & offer nothing but the same old company line nonsence you are basically playing the fool!Thus the clown reference. -

Just to elaborate on that Ron, take a look at this past weeks debacle. Take a close look at those comedy of errors that can be explained best by saying it would have been really funny if it weren’t so sad! From a Jet fans perspective anyway, because from the rest of the real world it was stand up comedy at it’s finest. Who was to blame for that disaster? Was it Rex? Was it the plays being called? Was it the execution, or lack there of from the multi millionaire players? Sure, Rex has his shortcomings, and if they can replace him with a Vince Lombardi, a Bill Parcells, or even a Don Shula, I would be all for it. But they can’t! So what’s the point?

Ron, not to be redundant, but here are my thoughts on where the problems are “in order” 1- the talent base on this team, especially at thee most critical spot “QB” and I don’t mean just the starting QB. 2- The GM and the FO who are “totally” responsible for the talent base. 3- the coaching staff. Now, why jump to the #3 problem and totally ignore the first 2? Consider this, “what if” Belichek and Rex had switched positions before the start of the season, hypothetical yes, but I think you get the point, do you believe it would have effected the standings as they are today in the least? Players play, players win, players lose 99% of the time.

Allan, you’re totally right about the way the Bucs are rebuilding, which is why I don’t like any of the mediocre stopgap QBs on your list. Jet fans, and the Jet org, will just have to grow up and admit that 4 yrs of Sanchez was enough and it’s time to put the same kind of commitment that we gave him behind somebody else. Other teams do it and often much faster than we do, like the way CIN simply declared the Palmer era over and went with Dalton and MIN cut it short with McNabb and committed to Ponder. As of now, I can honestly say that Sanchez is one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL. Woody, Mr T, and especially Rex only look foolish trying to pretend otherwise.

scjoe: I knew this was coming. I didn’t say take just any big-time HC. I’m well aware of all the failures in the past so I agree 100% with what you said. But that’s why we need a new GM 1st, then get the HC, then start drafting coachable players to fit the system. It will take 2-3 yrs but thats the price to pay for building a sustainable organization top to bottom. Cowboys were 1-15 1st yr. Won 3 SBs thereafter. I get it – some guys are cut out to coach in college & should stay there where they will always do well. But some others are great motivators and innovators & can make the leap. They just need the backing of their GM & the buy-in of their players. I’m done with Rex & don’t support the good ‘ol boy recycling of coaches.

GARY C & Allen O, neither Cumberlin or Keller are nearly fast enough to play W.R. Keller was originally a W.R at Perdue but switched to T.E due to his 40 times being 4.6+. The same for Cumberlin at ILL. Not a bad thought but its not gonna happan!
S.C.JOE, you know how much I respect your opinion but I’m not as convinced as you are about Rex? This is 2 years in a row where he just doesn’t seem like he is steering the ship.And this is a ship that needs steering! With all thats happaned & Rex’s continued look of bewilderment when talking with the media he has become a sad symbol of all that is wrong with this franchise. As for who replaces him, its to early to say but I would like to see who becomes available.

Everybody always says that and then they’re amazed when somebody good comes along. Jetblue that would be the ideal route to go with. Rebuilding is what this team needs. Build this team like the Bucs are doing around Josh Freeman. They gave him a dynamic RB in Martin..they got him Vincet Jackson..and a couple of all-pro lineman to protect him. All they need is a wideout for the future and they will have a big three..same blueprint the cowboys used in the 90′s. Sanchez is not the answer. But we will have to deal with him for 1 more season. All we need is a GM (Polian) to come in and build the NYJ the right way. Get rid of the Scotts,Paces,thomas, all the dead weight and bloated contracts. If the 49er’s can turn their season around in 1 year then I have hope for this team.

Ira, no matter how you choose to look at the McElroy situation the common denominator is “politics” not football! That is unacceptable for Jet fans. As a day one Jet fan I can care less about where a guy is drafted, how he was acquired, how much they pay him, or how the FO can save face for their obvious blunders. All I want to see is the appropriate moves being made, and the appropriate action taken when a player (ANY player) fails to perform over the course of a season or two, or three. That is what occurs on MOST organizations, obviously not this one.

Jet Blue, can you say Lou Holtz? How about Lou Saben? How about Steve Spurrier? Petrino?? Just four off the top of my head that came out of “Big Time” university’s who flopped at the pro level. Now, it is my contention, as I have said right here many. many, times, you give any of those coaches, along with Rex, guys like Brady, Brees, Manning, JJ Watt, Aldon Smith, Gronk, Calvin or Andre Johnson, Foster or Peterson, etc. etc. etc. you get the idea, and I will show you an “elite” HC, because that is all it takes. 99% of the time “players” win and lose games. The only real difference makers that I can name? Lombardi, Parcells, Shula, Brown, and “maybe” bellichek. Not to many more!

1st order of business: Welcome back Spicer. I missed you Buddy. Really. For those thinking that there is no better coach out there to replace Rex….SAY WHAT? I could coach this team better than Rex, well, just as bad. There are better/smarter coaches who would love the opportunity to coach this team. Bob Stoops, Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, Bill O’Brien. They are out of the same mold as Jimmy Johnson when he came from the U to coach the Cowboys. Big time university coaches are used to the high profile media driven atmosphere. The key is to also clean house of the old junk and bring in some young coachable players. Start stock-piling draft picks and begin to build this team to a sustainable winner. What would that feel like?

If Woody wants to show jets nation that he is a owner who actually cares about winning then his following steps should be: 1. Fire Mike Tannenbaum as GM bring him back to handle the cap issues. 2. Hire Bill Polian as GM from there Polian will hire the best coach available. 3. I would keep Ryan as a Def.Coord. ( but we all know that he won’t stay ) . If McElory is not the future draft a QB who will be. Get a back-up QB who could be a starter to battle Sanchez for the 2013 season. Sanchez has no fear about the guys behind him Tebow/McElory. I like Powell/Mcknight backfield. And finally..this may sound crazy but I have Keller drop a few pounds and have play WR. Calvin Johnson is 236lbs & Andre Johnson is 230lbs. Keller I think is 245lb

Defensive ends with fat bellies don’t get sacks…Offensive lineman who cant create holes and can’ protect pass and Sporano has less ability than Schotty…t protect pass are worthless. Running who fumble should be benched, receivers who cant break defense coverage should be replaced…this team is awful..ill prepared and only can bully young teams but in reality are just a bunch of loudmouth misfits…

Sorry can’t believe they are punishing McElroy all season for a mistake he made at the end of last year. If thats how they felt they should’ve cut him. Its they can’t justify the Tebow trade if they start McElroy over Tebow nothing more. If Sanchez struggles this week and Tebow is healthy he starts in Jacksonville which is a waste of time. Tebow will not be back so why waste any time playing him. Its McElroy if need be or just let Sanchez play out the year and hope we show some improvement.

con’t. Look at the 49ers. They bring in harbaugh and change the whole culture of the team. Yes they are younger and faster but they are winning with basically the same players Singltary could get nothing out of. A QB that was deemed a total bust. I know on this board there is a 50/50 split on the importance of the HC vs. quality players but why not see what a motivated disaplined HC can get out of our marginal players. Yes many are old and need to go but over all they are professionals. Unfortunately prime positions like QB. RB, LB, need to be addressed. It can be done IMO in 2 years. In time for the SB to be in NY.

Ira, McKnight is just as fragile at the WR position as he is at the RB position. He just can’t stay healthy and therefore can’t be included in the long range plans (if there are any) Like you, all I want is wins, I really don’t care about draft position because, lets face it, the recent drafts have not been all that stellar anyway.

Rex’s steadfast support of Stinkchez has made him a joke and cost him any chance of being a coach anywhere else. If the jets “run” the table they “may’ get to the playoffs (UNLIKLY) only to be really embarrassed. They would be better off running the table with losses to secure a better draft pick. Codicil; If Tanny is still running draft our picks will still stink. These are professional players being paid to play a game. I can not beleive that the whole team has no speed or heart. I think the embarrassing losses, Rex’s refusal to try McElroy, a new OC no better than the last, the media fixated on a non performing backup QB, and the same lame repeated excises every week has taken the heart out of the whole team.

Here’s my Take on this whole Greg McElory issue. Last year McElory went to a radio station in Alabama and spoke his mind about the locker room issues. And he told the truth. Has anyone noticed since then he hasn’t spoken to the media or made any comments what-so-ever? I believe he is in Ryan’s dog house and they are punishing this kid by not suiting him up. There’s no other explaination for it.

Thats right all you can do is focus on the Cards this week. You know what the season is what it is i never expected much anyway. But i would love to walk out of MetLife at th end of the game with a win this week.
Good to see they are trying McKnight at WR this week. Before they give up on this guy they have to give it a real try to get him the ball in open space and see what he can do. A lot of evaluation of players will take place these next 5 games.
