Tom 64, In your list of playmakers above you listed Welker but just the other day you & SCJoe had Kerley having the same talent level as Welker saying he was an all pro. So what is it? It cant be both either Kerley is an all pro & we do have playmakers or Kerley is not an all pro & we dont have play makers?

Good analysis on Cro, Byrdman, he should definitely have more INTs given the way he’s still targeted even now, no one’s afraid of him the way they are of Revis. Still, INTs are a problem on this team to begin with, Leonard and Revis dropped quite a few a couple yrs ago and last yr was really the 1st time Revis seemed to catch all the ones he could. Face it, we lack big playmakers on all sides of the ball in an era in which playmakers of whatever kind — Brady, Rodgers, Foster, Peterson, Megatron, Welker, Matthews, Dumervil, you name it — are what the game is about. Which is another reason Rex and his small-ball thinking MUST GO!

BYRDMAM, actually, I think that Revis trade rumor was floated here/ I’m not sure who suggested it but its not a terrable idea as Revis could be tough to re-sign? I love your trade suggestion but i cant imagine anybody trading for our guys as Greens & Keller are free agents after this season?

I’ll also cut Greene something of a break, as he really has never looked quite like he did before injuring himself in the Colts playoff game. Hard to believe a few broken ribs could do that to a guy, unless his injury was worse than they’ve let on, but he doesn’t show that burst he had only a few yrs ago. What worries me, of course, is that the Jets will overpay to keep him around when Bell probably could do as well as him given the chance. (Bell’s lifetime NFL stats are almost as good as Greene’s were in his first, and best, yr.) So until Mr T is gone or at least relegated to adding up the cost of Mark’s sideline hotdogs (I still don’t understand why he didn’t just go into the locker room if he had to eat), we’re on very shaky ground.

To cut Rex a break, if in a backhand way: I doubt he believes this ground-and-pound nonsense. What he’s proven many times is that rather than answer any question honestly, he’d rather spin it. He’s like Robert Culp in BOB AND CAROL AND TED AND ALICE telling Natalie Wood that by cheating on her, he’s actually “bringing them closer together.” Arte validated this last yr when I predicted TO A WORD how Rex would say, “Hey, Mark’s a great QB but any time you can get Peyton Manning…” This stuff is insulting to fans, especially the ones who are spending small fortunes on season’s seats. But even worse, it’s the hallmark of a very weak individual, one who can’t face reality and thus will never inspire true confidence in anyone, not even himself.

Byrdman, Goodell has had a rough decade, name one thing he’s done for the game of any consequence. And are you kidding about that trade? I mean that in a good way, I’d deal Sanchez, Keller, and Greene for ANYONE’s #1 pic. Aside from the fact that they’re all underachievers whom Mr T is likely to throw too much money at, seeing the Jets have more than 1 #1 draft pick again before I die would be almost as good as winning another SB! Why we’re stuck with a GM who thinks 3 draft picks a yr is plenty at a time when depth in the NFL is more important than ever ranks only behind (1) A HC who wants to “just run the ball” when the whole league is winning by passing and (2) A QB who’s scared of everything on the field

“punchie” I expect a a corner like Cromartie who CLAIMS to be the best in the league to be among the NFL leaders in Interceptions. Jennings (Chicago) has 8 and Cro has 3 this season. Revis has built a reputation as being the NFL’s best shutdown corner, hence QB’s don’t target the WO he covers and Jets slide the safety help toward Cro. In contrast to Revis, Cro will frequently be targeted, over his career his tendency for concentration lapses and getting torched during those stretches despite having incredible physical skills was the reason Jets pursued Asomugha last year. Cromartie has elevated his game somewhat, but he’s mediocre in comparison to the NFL’s best. Ask Rex why he favors “Tackling” safeties over “Ballhawks” like Rhodes??

64, I have to be honest, I was one of those disillusioned Jet fans pulling for Philly last night. It didn’t happen, but let me say this about that Monday night game, it may have been the poorest performance by any two teams on one playing field, in all aspects of the game, that I have seen in a very long time. If the Bengals somehow make the playoff’s and play like they did last night, they will surely be one and done. Byrdman, great comparison to the NBA and what Goodell wants to achieve. I think the playoffs are watered down enough as it is, the last thing we need is to add a couple of 7-9 teams to the mix.

“BYRDMAN” How many interceptions do you expect a guy to have in consecutive seasons the real question you should be asking is why does our SS have zero interceptions and now that revis is injured cromartie has to play a totally diferent style of play. its easy for him to make interceptions against no2 recievers on the blind throwing side but when your playing man to man against every tems no1 reciever you need to play extremely tight which cromartie has done extremely well since revis`s injury. Oh and can you tell me how many interceptions revis had last season………as i recall it he only had 4. and on a final note how many NO1 CB`s have more interceptions than CRO………….

I said before season began, we could have signed both, B-Edwards and Plax for one year Deal, at one Million per each , I don’t care what any one says or thinks about these two players, Compared to what we put on the field until this point , I also know some of you experts think they have nothing left and are 3′on any other team, well that may be the case, but consider this if they started the season here I’m betting we’d have many more points scored in the 1st half of games, lets not even get into seconds halfs, Being we lost by 3-4 close games against Texans NE to name a few, these 2 could very well have made a very big difference I’m willing to bet we are in a much better position for playoffs than we are now, With BE and Plax

64 Tom – Yeah Goodell has had a rough year. The Bounty Gate case will hang around his neck like the Albatross hung from the neck of the “Mariner” in the classic Collerage Rime. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a season where the big question was if you were going to get the 1rst or 2nd seed, get a home game, and a week off? Even when winning the Jets are working out scenarios on other teams performances that will give them a spot. It would be nice to start a winning tradition where there was the assumption you go to the playoffs, just your position was unknown. There has NEVER been a winning tradition here. Look at the 49ers who have beaten the curse of losing seasons. The Colts who somehow always seem to win. Saints from laughable to perenial winners. In the 80′s Giant fans paid for a bannerthat read XX years of bad football. When will it end. Time for big changes and to think like a winner.

I think they don’t want the pressure of having McElroy as the #2 and if Mark is not getting the job done giving McElroy a shot again. BYRDMAM, excellent analysis of this seasons major players. Mangold is always solid. While Brick occassionally lays a brick(like the sack he allowed last week) he has been good in pass protection fot the most part this year. Moore is not the same guys the last 2 seasons now. We need two athletic O.L.B’s this off season as Pace & Thomas are just not getting it done. I sure hope we can re sign L.Landry as he has exceeded any expectations I ever had. Hey, heres an interesting trade rumor I heard: Darelle Revis for Leshaun McCoy & a 2nd rd pick from the Eagles? waddya think?

For anyone who still thinks Goodell should be within miles of any NFL job, I see that while he’s concerned enough about player safety to consider eliminating kickoffs, he’s also up for expanding the playoffs. I’ll get a kick out of seeing how that’ll work re safety after an 18-game season. In the NFL of the future, preseason will be 2 games in July, the regular season will go from August to March, the playoffs will take up April and May, and the SB will be played in June to complete a nice year-round schedule, Oh yeah, and there’ll be 30-yd penalties for slapping players too hard with two hands when you’re trying to “bring them down…”

I gotta go with Ira on this one, ron a, there’s no reason to be screwing around with Cro at WR when he’s playing that well at CB, especially with Revis out and Wilson still iffy. As for Rex, he didn’t even want Cro on kickoffs after he saved the season with his return against IND in the playoffs, so as usual he talks big but doesn’t come thru when it comes to action. Come to think of it, Rex didn’t see McKnight’s potential on kickoffs either…

-I know this will probably never happen knowing the Jets but I’m trying to be borderline realistic here, hahaa, if you want to call it that. The only players I really added to the offense are Mendenhall, Jennnings, Stanton, Turner. If you wish to argue, please do. I understand many people would want a different starter at RB and QB. It’s good to get opinions. Also, I think adding Mendenhall, Jennings and re-signing other key players will be hard to do. But a person can dream right?? I would love to have this personal on offense.

It seems to me that Cro picked up his game big time once Revis went down, which lends the question, Why? Why didn’t he play at the same level before? As for Braylon Edwards? Lets all understand one thing, on this particular team he may be a #1 but on most others he would be hard pressed to be a #3. I would say that is more true due to his recent injuries, not to his age. Not sure where he is at with those injuries, but I am more then sure this FO will do the “wrong” thing as far as signing him long term, one way or the other.

I agree Cro has been great this season. look at Asamagua (Spell check). Once he got his big payday his play dropped off. To Cro’s credit big bucks made him play better. Fault him for his personal like choices but on the field he is a top professional player. Imagine if the Jets, with their usual choice let Cro go and kept Asamagua? Imperative to pick up LBs next year and the D should close to good and a couple of picks/signings from elite. The O is a different story. We need to check out McElroys skill and either keep him or get rid of him with the other 2 QBs. Limited teams to go to but I think Jax would take Tebow and given help with his salery the Cards would take Sanchez.

O-line: I wouldn’t mind keeping it the way it is because I believe Slauson and Howard will continue to improve. The other three starters are solid. But we should draft a RG for the future because I hate saying it and he’s a great player, but Brandon Moore is getting up there…….

RANDY, I think its great you chose to recognize Cromartie as he has really had an amazing season to this point. As you point out above its almost unheard of in todays NFL for a player to go both ways. I think Rex may have started him as a way to let us recognize just what a great physical talent he is. Thinking back to earlier this season I think most of us kind of laughed it off when he said he could be the best W.R on our team with Holmes out.But I also remember him badly beating his defender on a long pass from Sanchez.Unfortunately, the pass was off target so it fell incomplete but you could see he has the physical talent to be successful as a W.R. And he’s also a threat as a kick returner as he proved last year when McKnight was hurt.

Cro is an incrediable athlete and is having a great season. I know you can’t coach thinking about players getting hurt but to me it makes no sense to put him at WR and taking the chance. Guess the sehorn play left a bad taste in my mouth. It ruined his career.
This is a real important weekend for the Jets lets hope it starts right with the Eagles beating the Bengals.

Let me try this again. Hey did anybody else notice that Hill tries to catch ball with his hands only when he doesn’t have to and the ball bounces off them ?
