The registration deadline for the Junior Flight Crew Cheerleaders Program — the first time ever that the New York Jets will be offering this type of program to girls ages 7-14 — has been extended by two weeks.
This dance and cheer camp will take place in August and the culmination of the program is a halftime performance with the 2010 Flight Crew Cheerleaders at the Aug. 27 preseason game against the Washington Redskins at the New Meadowlands Stadium!
The buzz is really getting out to the public about this new camp that the Jets are offering. There have been youth programs available for boys who play football, but there has never been a dance and cheerleading program of this kind offered by the Jets to young girls.
We have a lot of fans that are children. When the Flight Crew Cheerleaders have the opportunity to talk to fans, everyone is excited about how much we have grown. We really are a part of the Jets culture as we move into the new stadium. The Flight Crew is anticipating an exciting opening year at the stadium and they want young girls to perform alongside them as they entertain thousands of fans at the new stadium.
Can you imagine going back to school in September and telling your classmates that you trained and performed with the famous New York Jets Flight Crew Cheerleaders? I am telling registrants to make sure that they bring their cameras so they can record these amazing memories! Who knows? Some of these young girls may grow up to be Flight Crew Cheerleaders!”
Registration is limited to 150 participants for the camp to ensure individual attention to each participant. The deadline to register has been extended to Friday, July 30. The camp costs $295 per participant. Click here to download the 2010 Junior Cheerleader Program Registration Form.

Don’t miss your chance. Put your best foot forward by enrolling in one of the Flight Crew Cheerleaders prep classes. There are six audition prep classes total — two on Long Island, two in New York City and two in New Jersey. We have cheerleaders from all over the area and that is one of the things that I love about our squad.
There is no limit to the amount of classes you can take! Participants will be led through the cheerleader warmup routine and practice dance technique and you’ll learn choreography that is in the style of the Flight Crew Cheerleaders. You will get audition tips on picking up choreography quickly, executing the Flight Crew “style of dance” and learn how to show your personality and really perform at the auditions.
The classes are taught by me and by members of the 2009 squad. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with us.
The Long Island prep classes are at the New York Sports Clubs in Oceanside on Thursday, April 15, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and in East Meadow on Tuesday, April 20, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The New York City prep classes will be held at the Wall Street New York Sports Club on Wednesday, April 7, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and at the Theatre District NYSC on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m.-noon.
The New Jersey classes will be held at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park on Saturday, March 27, and Saturday, April 3, both days from 10 a.m.-noon.
Complete information and a registration form can be found on the Flight Crew Cheerleader portion of newyorkjets.com. The fee is $25 per class if you register in advance or $30 at the door. The class atmosphere is fun and non-competitive so get yourself ready for the big day!

Monday was an exciting day for the Flight Crew! We were invited to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. This was a huge honor for me and the Crew and the timing was perfect! The day before, the Jets beat the Colts, 29-15, to end their undefeated season. “Win and we’re in” instantly became the theme of every Jets fan while the hopes of a potential playoff spot spread energy through New York.
New York City during the holidays is especially magical and Monday morning was no exception. Being on Wall Street as businesspeople scurried to work under the beautiful NYSE Christmas Tree lit with colored lights was breathtaking.
We had recently performed at the NYSE Christmas tree lighting event, which was a piece of New York City history in itself — it’s the oldest event of its kind in the city. The tradition began in 1923 and has been warming the hearts of New Yorkers for the past 86 years. The Flight Crew Cheerleaders performed a sneak peak of their 9-minute halftime routine for city dwellers and tourists alike as they braved the cold to get into the holiday spirit.
A look down the street takes you to one of the oldest buildings in the city, Trinity Church. Its history dates back to 1696 and is architecturally awe-inspiring. One glance and you know that you are looking at a building that stands proud for the history of our city. Across the street you can see the enormous statue of George Washington at Federal Hall, the very building where Washington took his oath to become our nation’s first president. And there we were — standing on the steps of the New York Stock Exchange, the financial capitol of the world.
Needless to say, this was another first for the Flight Crew Cheerleaders. As we approached the balcony and looked down on what was to become the hustle and bustle of the trading floor, something sounded extremely familiar. It started low and got progressively louder until the trading floor erupted into "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!" The Jets chant began and was chanted a second and finally a third time! The energy of financial world about to begin another day and the Jets entering a week of excitement, hope and belief in the potential of winning a wild card spot in the playoffs, well, it’s priceless.
I appreciate all of the “moments” that I am afforded, but this was especially memorable. I knew that the Flight Crew being asked to ring the bell at the NYSE opening ceremony was not only an honor but a mark on our own history. As young as the Flight Crew Cheerleaders may be to the Jets organization, we continue to create our own historical Flight Crew timeline as we are awarded opportunities such as this one. And as year three comes to an end within the next couple of weeks, this one will be marked as another first for Flight Crew.
